Let's Take Tomorrow

from Venus in Flight by Krister Axel

about

Towards the end of my days in Los Angeles, when my wife was working with Peoplemedia as an executive, she was in charge of a commercial, and I scrambled to put this song together as a pitch for that contract. We didn't get it, and you could argue this was a case of pulling the bread out of the oven before it was baked. I'm still not sure about that, and I've grown to love this slightly quirky, overly commercialized attempt to sound like The Rembrandts.

lyrics

Walking on a high wire
Patching up an old tire
Feeling just a little fire
In my head, in my heart
Living on a straight line
Flowing like a fine wine
Tapping on a road sign
With the heels of my boots
I believe everything is all right
I believe in dancing through the night

Let's take tomorrow baby
And turn that day around
Don't say forever baby
Although I like the way that sounds
I think I like the way that sounds
Tonight
Tonight

Working with our bare hands
Strangers in a strange land
Dancing on the hot sand
With our hands to the sky
I'll be here forever
Floating on a river
Heading for the future
With my arms open wide
I believe everything is all right
I believe in dancing through the night

Let's take tomorrow baby
And turn that day around
Don't say forever baby
Although I like the way that sounds
I think I like the way that sounds
Tonight
This is our time tonight
This is our time tonight
This is our time tonight

Let's take tomorrow baby
And turn that day around
Don't say forever baby
Unless you like the way that sounds
I think I like the way that sounds
I think I like the way that sounds
Tonight
This is our time tonight
This is our time tonight
This is our time tonight

Krister Axel New York

Hi, my name is Krister Axel. I am a roots-rock veteran of the indie music scene, and I have a degree in Poetry. I am a published lyricist, composer, and songwriter. I started playing piano in White Plains, New York because our black upright piano fascinated me and my sisters hated their piano lessons. That was in the 80's and I have never stopped writing songs.
My music blog is called CHILLFILTR.
