This song was written, odd as it may be, as an echo of Coltrane's Giant Steps. It brings together elements from all of my piano heroes - Thelonius Monk, Keith Jarrett, a touch of Bill Evans, and even some Elton John. I wrote it just as I was starting the first season of my podcast so I used it as the theme.

Krister Axel New York

Hi, my name is Krister Axel. I am a roots-rock veteran of the indie music scene, and I have a degree in Poetry. I am a published lyricist, composer, and songwriter. I started playing piano in White Plains, New York because our black upright piano fascinated me and my sisters hated their piano lessons. That was in the 80's and I have never stopped writing songs.
My music blog is called CHILLFILTR.
